In this case, both Vlad and Mina have crossed oceans of time to find each other again.

The rescue scene reminded me of Bram Stoker's novels, particularly The Mystery of the Sea.

I haven't (yet) read that story, but will definitely search it out. Glad to know I'm keeping in the Stoker tradition. : )

I like the analogy of rebirth as associated with water, most especially as Mina (in her life as Elisabeta) committed suicide by throwing herself in the river. With that in mind, it seemed fitting that my modern era Mina and Dracula would reconnect via the medium of the sea, with a daring rescue.
